Gwalior Airport Closed Amid Operation Sindoor Security Measures

Gwalior, 7 May 2025 — Air travel in Gwalior has been significantly affected following India’s military offensive, Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. As part of security measures, the central government has suspended civilian flights across multiple northern cities, including Gwalior.
Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Airport in Gwalior saw a halt in flight operations, with several incoming and outgoing flights cancelled or rerouted. Airlines like IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Air India issued advisories, with IndiGo cancelling over 165 flights nationwide, including services connecting Gwalior to major cities.
Passengers in Gwalior have been advised to monitor airline notifications closely and avoid unnecessary travel to the airport. Officials have confirmed that civilian flight restrictions will remain in place until at least 10 May, depending on further directives from security agencies.
The precautionary suspension is part of a wider air traffic freeze across high-alert zones such as Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Bikaner, aimed at securing the airspace during ongoing military operations.
Authorities at Gwalior airport are working with airlines to assist stranded passengers and ensure minimal disruption. The situation remains dynamic, with updates expected as the operation progresses.
