Gwalior Gets Direct Train to Prayagraj as Jhansi-Prayagraj Express Now Originates from City

Gwalior, 27 May 2025 — Rail connectivity between Gwalior and Prayagraj has taken a major step forward with the extension of the Jhansi-Prayagraj Express, which will now start its journey from Gwalior. The new daily train service was officially flagged off on Monday morning at 5:00 AM from Gwalior Railway Station.
The inaugural ceremony saw the presence of Member of Parliament Bharat Singh Kushwah, BJP district president Jayprakash Rajoria, and several other public representatives and railway officials. The development comes as a welcome move for passengers who have long demanded a direct rail link between the two cities.
The train, which earlier operated between Jhansi and Prayagraj, will now provide daily service starting from Gwalior. This extension is expected to benefit students, professionals, and pilgrims travelling to the Sangam city, making travel more accessible and time-efficient.
Railway officials stated that the move is part of ongoing efforts to improve regional rail services and meet the increasing demand for better connectivity across important routes.
Passengers expressed their happiness and thanked the authorities for fulfilling a long-pending demand of the region.
